Cordcutters XL TIp 1
Welcome to our inaugural...test post. That's right, this is not at all eventful or meaningful in any way, but I thought I'd start it off with at least something substantive.
Tip the First: Did you know that instead of buying expensive set top boxes for digital content you can simply buy an HDMI cable and connect a laptop to most HD televisions? Many of us enjoy the set top boxes very much, I know I do, but if you're just looking to watch digital TV and have little or no budget but DO have an available laptop, consider buying an HDMI cable and just hooking it up.
And don't let a salesman fool you, you don't need a 50 dollar Monster cable for a good picture. Typically a cheap HDMI cable that costs less than 5 USD (sometimes much cheaper) will do just fine. Once you have things set up, you can get a full screen TV experience in many ways, especially through programs like XBMC. But that discussion is for another time when this blog actually exists in some form other than this pale limbo.
For now visiting netflix.com, hulu.com, or your choice of perhaps slightly-less-legit streaming site and hitting the full screen button (protip: invest in a wireless mouse or for a free-er options, grab one of the many wifi mouse apps on your phone's app store) will have you watching as you wish.
PS: This blog is just a random idea that occurred to me, nothing is really set in motion yet. A few thoughts, I will be discussing non-legitimate streaming services but not linking directly to infringing content. Once things get going expect content daily at the most, weekly at the least.
